SimplyRCS alternatives: 11 RCS providers, compared honestly

Who each one suits, what they publish, and where SimplyRCS is not the fit

The right SimplyRCS alternative depends on who will run the channel and where the recipients are. For developer teams that want the lowest published API rates and will build their own tooling, Telnyx and Plivo. For reach across many countries under one contract, Sinch and Infobip. For a European audience, Bird or LINK Mobility. For an RCS-only programme that wants the fastest first message, RCS Studio by Vibes. SimplyRCS is the fit when a US marketing or operations team wants verified RCS live in weeks, on published rates, with carrier approval filed for you.

Full disclosure: this page is published by SimplyRCS. Every rate below is the one each vendor publishes, or we say that it is quoted, and each entry links to a line-by-line comparison that also lists where that vendor is the better call. We would rather lose a mismatched deal than win one.

When SimplyRCS is not the right choice

  • Your recipients are outside the United States. SimplyRCS delivers on US carriers only, on direct connections to AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile and US Cellular. A multi-country programme rules us out before price is discussed.
  • Engineering owns the channel and volume is modest. We charge a flat $250 a month per verified RCS agent and Telnyx and Plivo charge no platform fee, so below roughly 96,000 rich text messages a month (Telnyx) or 65,800 (Plivo) their pay-as-you-go total is lower. On rich media the Telnyx rates are a tenth of a cent apart from ours, so that crossover is further out still.
  • You need one global contract or wholesale capacity. Sinch, Infobip and Bandwidth exist for that, and we do not.
  • You want a suite you already run to add RCS. If Vonage, Bird or Infobip already carry your other channels, staying inside the suite can beat a better rate on one channel, provided the RCS terms are acceptable in writing.

The eleven alternatives, and who each one suits

Twilio: best for engineering teams that want the widest global API surface

Twilio is the global, API-first CPaaS you build on. It publishes about $0.0083 for a basic RCS message and about $0.0220 for rich media, with carrier fees, number rentals and registration on top, and verification is self-serve with no approval SLA. Choose it if engineers own the channel and will build the interface and the inbox themselves.

Telnyx: best for developer teams that want the lowest published API rates

Telnyx is carrier-owned and developer-first, with free 24/7 in-house engineering support and an openly published rate card: $0.0065 per segment for RCS rich text and $0.016 for rich media, no platform fee. RCS is secondary to its voice and SMS infrastructure, and there is no no-code builder or inbox. On rich text our flat agent fee pays for itself at about 96,000 messages a month; below that, Telnyx is the cheaper line item and we say so.

Plivo: best for pay-as-you-go API access with an open US rate card

Plivo publishes $0.0077 per segment for SMS and RCS rich text and $0.0180 for rich media, with no platform fee, and supports rich cards, carousels, suggested replies and verified senders properly. There is no app or inbox. The crossover against our flat fee is about 65,800 rich text messages a month.

Sinch: best for many countries and social channels under one contract

Sinch is a large global aggregator with wide country coverage and the Chatlayer no-code bot builder. US RCS rates are quoted against your volume rather than published, and its own onboarding guidance estimates 6 to 12 weeks to a first send. Choose it for reach that a US-only platform cannot offer.

Infobip: best for global enterprises that need 60-plus countries and a CDP

Infobip sells RCS as one channel inside a large omnichannel suite with direct operator connections in more than sixty countries. Pricing is quote-only, its Moments product has carried a per-interaction fee of around $0.07, and onboarding is an enterprise process. Choose it if one global contract matters more than a published US rate.

Vonage: best for teams already running Vonage voice, video or contact center

Vonage is a global omnichannel Messages API alongside a unified communications business. It documents a three-class RCS billing model but not the US rates, and the channel is API-first and self-serve, so you manage verification and the build.

SimplyRCS vs Vonage, line by line ›

Bird (MessageBird): best for largely European audiences

Bird is a Europe-first omnichannel suite with a well-regarded visual Flow Builder and a customer data platform, pivoting toward AI marketing tooling. It does not publish RCS rates. If most of your audience is in Europe it belongs on the shortlist.

Bandwidth: best for enterprises and wholesalers buying carrier capacity on a contract

Bandwidth owns its own nationwide US IP network and sells contract-first, with an account manager, contracting and a phased launch. Rates come with the negotiated contract rather than a price page. Carrier-grade if you have the volume and procurement for that relationship.

LINK Mobility is a strong European messaging provider with the MyLINK Studio builder and deep European carrier relationships, but it is Europe-first and quote-priced, with a US gap. Choose it if your audience is in Europe.

TrueDialog: best for programmes that are still mostly high-volume SMS

TrueDialog is a respected US SMS-first platform with RCS added, a long track record, and transparent plan-based pricing with a published carrier pass-through page. Choose it if SMS remains the centre of the programme and RCS is an addition.

RCS Studio (Vibes): best for RCS-only programmes that want the fastest first message

RCS Studio is a fast, single-channel RCS tool from Vibes, an enterprise mobile-marketing platform. There is no public pricing page; RCS Studio has been listed from $149 a month, with platform tiers from $20,000 a month. Choose it if you only ever need RCS and nothing else on the same bill.

How to choose

  • Marketing or operations owns the channel, recipients are in the US: SimplyRCS. Published rates, approval filed for you, no-code builder and inbox included.
  • Engineering owns the channel and volume is modest: Telnyx or Plivo.
  • Recipients span many countries: Sinch or Infobip.
  • Audience is mostly European: Bird or LINK Mobility.
  • Only RCS, nothing else on the bill: RCS Studio by Vibes.
  • Still mostly SMS: TrueDialog.
  • Wholesale capacity on a contract: Bandwidth.

Whichever you pick, get the rich text rate, the rich media rate, the carrier fee treatment and the verification owner in writing before any numbers move. Choosing an RCS provider sets out the full evaluation, and how much RCS costs covers the market-wide picture rather than ours.

Frequently asked

What are the best SimplyRCS alternatives?

It depends on who will run the channel and where the recipients are. For developer teams that want the lowest published API rates, Telnyx and Plivo. For reach across many countries under one contract, Sinch and Infobip. For a European audience, Bird or LINK Mobility. For an RCS-only programme with no other channels, RCS Studio by Vibes. Twilio fits engineering teams that want the widest global API surface, Vonage fits teams already inside its suite, Bandwidth fits enterprises buying wholesale capacity, and TrueDialog fits programmes that are still mostly SMS.

Which SimplyRCS alternatives publish their RCS pricing?

Telnyx ($0.0065 per segment rich text, $0.016 rich media) and Plivo ($0.0077 per segment rich text, $0.0180 rich media) publish full US rate cards. Twilio publishes per-message rates (about $0.0083 basic, $0.0220 rich media) but carrier fees and other charges vary on top. TrueDialog publishes plan-based pricing with a carrier pass-through page. Sinch, Infobip, Vonage, Bird, Bandwidth, LINK Mobility and Vibes price by quote or contract. SimplyRCS publishes $0.0039 per text or interactive card, $0.0150 with media, and $250 a month per verified RCS agent.

When is a SimplyRCS alternative the better choice?

When your recipients are outside the United States, because SimplyRCS delivers on US carriers only. When engineering owns the channel and volume is modest, because a no-platform-fee API like Telnyx or Plivo totals less until our flat agent fee is earned back, at roughly 96,000 rich text messages a month against Telnyx and 65,800 against Plivo. When you need many countries or wholesale capacity on one contract, which is what the global aggregators and Bandwidth are built for.

Can I move between RCS providers without losing my phone numbers?

Yes. Long codes port through standard US number portability, toll-free numbers move by a change of Responsible Organization, and short codes are migrated carrier by carrier with carrier-set fees passed through at cost. What does not move is the paperwork: 10DLC campaigns and the verified RCS agent are re-filed by the new provider. SimplyRCS does that filing and the porting for you, and both platforms can run in parallel during cutover.
