What is the 10DLC campaign registry?

Compliance & Security

Quick answer

The Campaign Registry, usually shortened to TCR, is the central clearing house the US carriers use to vet A2P text messaging on 10-digit numbers. It holds two record types: brands, which identify the business, and campaigns, which describe each use case that business texts about. When your provider submits a registration, it goes to TCR, which validates the details, assigns your brand a trust score, and shares the approved record with AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile and the rest. The carriers then use that record to decide your throughput and how aggressively to filter you.

You do not usually deal with TCR directly. Messaging providers are connected to it and submit on your behalf, which is why registration fees appear on a provider invoice rather than as a bill from TCR. What you supply is the underlying truth: an exact legal business name, a valid EIN that matches it, a real website, and an honest description of each campaign.

The most common failure is a mismatch. If the legal name on the brand record does not exactly match the EIN registration, vetting fails or the trust score drops, and a low trust score means throttled throughput. It is worth checking the legal name character for character before submitting, because correcting a record afterwards is slower than getting it right the first time.

Key facts
  • TCR is the shared registry the US carriers read; it holds brand records and campaign records.
  • It issues the trust score that determines your daily throughput.
  • Your messaging provider submits to TCR for you and passes the fees through.
  • Exact legal name and matching EIN are the details that most often cause a failed or downgraded registration.
