Why "for US brands" changes the answer
Most RCS platform comparisons are written for global programmes, and the criteria that matter there, carrier networks in eighty countries, twenty-language chatbots, WhatsApp and Viber beside RCS, are dead weight for a brand whose customers are in the United States. Four things are specific to the US market and they reshape the shortlist.
The carriers. US RCS traffic terminates on AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile and US Cellular, and every verified sender has to be activated with them. A platform that reaches those four directly has no aggregator in the path; one that reaches them through a partner adds a hop, a margin and someone else's queue.
The reach. Since Apple shipped RCS in iOS 18 in September 2024, RCS reaches both halves of the US smartphone market. The registration stack. A US brand needs a 10DLC brand and campaign registration for its SMS fallback, Google RBM sender verification for the RCS agent, and carrier activation on top. The law. The Telephone Consumer Protection Act applies to RCS exactly as it applies to SMS: prior express written consent for marketing, revocation by any reasonable means, and honouring an opt-out within ten business days under 47 CFR 64.1200. The carriers enforce the CTIA principles on top and filter first, ask later. A platform serving US brands has to handle STOP and HELP above the campaign layer, capture consent at enrolment and keep the records, not leave it to a setting.

Carrier connectivity
Ask where the platform's connection to each US carrier terminates and who owns the relationship. A platform with direct connections controls its own throughput, gets carrier-side issues resolved without an intermediary, and passes carrier fees through at cost because it is paying them itself. A reseller of someone else's connectivity cannot promise any of that, whatever the rate card says. Verification and branding
The verified sender is the product. A US brand's name, logo, colour and checkmark on every message is what separates RCS from an SMS blast from an unknown number, and it exists only after Google has approved the agent and each carrier has activated it. Business RCS is encrypted in transit and processed by the sending platform; it is not end-to-end encrypted, so the platform's own security posture is what protects the message content. Ask for the SOC 2 Type II report, not a badge, and ask where the infrastructure sits. Migration ease
A brand that already texts has numbers, registrations, consent records and a vendor contract, and the platform should be able to take all four over without a gap in service. How to choose an RCS business messaging platform for a US brand
Step 1: Confirm the platform is built for US carriers
Ask which US carriers the platform connects to directly, whether the connection is its own or a partner's, and how carrier fees reach your bill. If you have customers outside the United States, ask whether the platform will carry those markets or whether you will need a second vendor for them.
Step 2: Find out who files verification, 10DLC and carrier activation
